Chalk Paint® Decorative Paint by Annie Sloan
Chalk Paint® is Annie Sloan paint
Annie Sloan developed her now famous decorative paint, Chalk Paint® in 1990. At the time, there was no paint available with the properties Annie was seeking, so she decided to develop her own. She chose the name “Chalk Paint” because of its matte, almost chalky, finish. She created her signature paint – with its remarkable versatility and ease of use – for everyone from the amateur DIY-er to the professional interior designer.
Chalk Paint® is different from other traditional paints. It is not simply paint with chalk added to it, nor is it chalkboard paint. It is not made by adding plaster of Paris or grout or even baking soda to an existing paint. Chalk Paint® is the unique decorative paint Annie Sloan developed for furniture, floors and walls, drawing on a lifetime of research and experience in working with paint and color.
Chalk Paint® rarely requires any preparation, such as sanding or priming, and can be used indoors or out, on just about any surface. It can revitalize old furniture, walls, ceilings and floors with ease. It’s easy, fun and produces amazing results achievable by even the most timid painter.
Chalk Paint® adheres to most surfaces and creates gorgeous results quickly and easily. Use it for a textured finish, a distressed finish, a smooth contemporary finish or even a wash. Seal it with Clear Soft Wax and age it with Dark Soft Wax (brown) or Black Wax.
With a color palette of 36 colors inspired by 18th and 20th Century decor and design, you can easily mix the colors together to extend the range. Add a little water to make it smooth or thicken it up by leaving the lid off. Make it into a wash by adding even more water. Use Annie Sloan Flat Brushes for a smooth look or her Pure Bristle Brushes for a more textured, aged look. Apply Annie Sloan Soft Wax to protect and add durability to your finish. Chalk Paint® is also non-toxic, water-based, lead-free, EG-free and odor-free. It has very low volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
There is only one Chalk Paint® but it offers endless possibilities.
